QUILL CUTTER 1915 CALCUTTA

$450.00

Description

Rare Quill cutter made of animal bone and metal. It consists of nib shaped blades, a pen knife, and a rare “guillotine” which squares off the nib.
There are two impressions. One side is marked “MOORE Oxford Street” Which I think is the makers mark. The back side has a plate inscribed, “George Wyman & Co, Hare Street, Calcutta” I think that must be the Retail seller.
The initials R.L.E. is engraver on one side. It comes with a leather case.
Interestingly, in the book “Western writing implements in the age of the Quill Pen” by Michael Finlay, There is an identical cutter by the firm, Joseph Rodgers. May all be same company.
