VINTAGE MAKI-E

PILOT FLAT TOP

GEISHA & CHERRY BLOSSOMS

pilot vintage geisha and cherry blossoms

This is one of the nicest pieces I've seen. It is fairly unique for a number of reasons. The designs of Namiki are usually traditional nature scenes, depicting flowers, birds,or fish. This  shows a beautiful Geisha girl, surrounded by cherry blossoms. The art work is superb. You can feel the movement of the kimono blowing in the breeze.

It has a Pilot 14k nib, and Pilot clip. The feed is the correct pre-war flat feed.

What is also remarkable is the face. Japanese artisans did not generally put features on their faces. This Geisha has a face and seems to be smiling. This is a High GRADE AAA pen with lots of RADEN, AOGI shells,KIRKANE, and covered with Gold dust.

The Maki-e work on this pen is vibrant with much detail. Togidashi and takamaki-e are utilized through out creating a three dimensional figure.

Pen is 13 cm " closed,(5") with Namiki life buoy lever and #3 14 carat Pilot nib. Pen is unsigned.

Excellent condition.
