FABULOUS NAMIKI MAKI-E CIGARETTE CASE

This wonderful pre-war cigarette case is perhaps the finest I've seen. The hallmarks are British sterling, London assay office. The lion passant is for England, the leopard head is for London assay office, and the date letter M is for 1927-28. A very early piece. . next to what I believe was the mark of the Silver Workshop that made the case before it was sent to Japan.
It is signed by Master Artist KOHO MITSUHO next to the NAMIKI KAN (see above. It is difficult to read because it is signed in gold ON gold)
It is Maki-e on Sterling Silver. Loaded with Raden, and using Togedashi and Takamaki-e techniques, the Geisha, flowers, and mountains are three dimensional.
There are light scratches on the sterling which could be buffed out, bit I don't want to do it. Otherwise, the entire piece including all artwork is in outstanding condition.
This is a very important piece for any serious collector of maki-e.
